Visit Saltdal

The municipality houses Nordland National Park Centre, which is an information center for the county's many beautiful national parks. Two of them, Saltfjellet/Svartisen and Junkerdal lie wholly and partly within the municipality's borders and are frequently visited in connection with both hunting, fishing, berry picking and pure nature experiences.

Powerful experiences

If you simply want to visit Saltdal as a tourist, we recommend, among other things, a well-maintained cycle path, hiking trails along the popular salmon river Saltdalselva, fishing, nature experiences, a visit to Bygdetunet or the Adde Zetterquist art gallery.

Many will probably remember Saltdal for its war history, the Blood Road, boat building, Blåfrostfestivalen, Sommerblå, Trygve Hoff, Alt For Rognan, Hans Erik Dyvik Husby and Lena Kristin Ellingsen. All this and much more can be found in the spinal cord of everyone who lives in our beautiful village.

The docks at Rognan

The settlement of Rognan is reasonably well-known for its proud boat-building tradition, but did you know that the place can also offer a mini version of the wharves in Bergen?

Along the quay promenade, four authentic wharves are enthroned in classic ocher and red splendor. The wharves are respectively called Næstbybrygga (1916), Olsenbrygga (1917), Koopbrygga (1923) and Kulsethbrygga (1926). Each building has its own history, which you can read more about on small blue plaques outside the buildings. For those interested in learning more about the boat building traditions, it is also possible to follow these plaques on a local history walk along the entire Rognanfjæra.

In the summer season, there are often exciting exhibitions in Næstbybrygga, which tends to be popular with both visitors and permanent residents.

There is usually a lot of activity in connection with the annual wooden boat festival/Rognandagan. Then various competitions, sales of craft products etc. are organised.

Welcome!
